I haven’t posted for the last few weeks, as some of you may have noticed. I’m coming back from my brief hiatus, and I wanted to let you know that I may be changing a few things.
I took my break because I was honestly just feeling overwhelmed. With housework, kids, babysitting, blogging, and trying to have a life of my own, I felt a little stretched. I felt so stretched that for a few days, I lost interest in blogging. I had also been praying about my blog a lot, and I felt like the Lord had been saying to me that I need to make sure my first jobs – wife and mother – take precedence over blogging.
It felt really great not to touch my computer for a few weeks. I tried to open it only for specific purposes- emailing friends, making a shopping list, etc. I’m planning to start blogging again at a slower pace, and I’m going to try not to feel like I have to do it if I’m busy.
I’ve also found that my favorite posts to write are NOT the deals, but the posts about my life and ideas about saving money. I enjoy sharing thoughts and ideas with you, not finding deals. There are tons of great blogs that do that anyway.
I think I’ve looked at this as a part of my personal success: if my blog does well, I’m a successful person. The Lord has been teaching me in the last month that my success in life is only measured by my closeness to Him. My house and kids can look great, my blog can have tons of views, and my cooking can be divine, but those things aren’t my meaning in life. The meaning of life is to be brought to the Lord.
So I’m going to start blogging again, but as a hobby, not a meaning. I’m going to seek to draw closer to the Lord, and I pray you will too. Hopefully, that will spill over into my blog and bless you.
